On 27-29 November 2017, in Perth, ICRAR and CSIRO hosted an Australian SKA Regional Centre Workshop. The workshop was the first broad discussion of the AusSRC focused on
- Overviewing the current activities, science and technical projects that are within the scope of SRC.
- Developing the high level requirements and a roadmap for Australian SRC, with an initial focus on data from the Australian precursors (MWA and ASKAP).
- Discussing collaboration models and common goals of Australian SRC with other SRCs around the globe, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Learning from the international regional science centres of other large science projects around the world.
The workshop was structured as a series of focus group discussions. The summary of the discussion can be found here.
Based on this community input we have developed the AusSRC White Paper, which initiates a discussion about the future AusSRC in the form of high-level requirements. It’s envisioned that the paper will inform the development of technical and organisational requirements for the AusSRC, in particular a series of projects under the ERIDANUS umbrella. The copy of the paper can be downloaded here.
